(January 28, 2008) - Replacement of the Council Road bridges over I-40 will begin the week of February 4, weather permitting.
Starting February 4 traffic on Council Road will shift to the northbound bridge while the southbound bridge is demolished and replaced. Traffic will shift to the new bridge while the remaining bridge is demolished and replaced. Traffic will flow one lane in each direction for the duration of the project.
Southbound Council Road over I-40 is currently reduced to one lane. Recent inspection of the bridge deck noted that concrete in the closed lane requires repair, which will be completed as part of the project. This lane closure will remain in effect until the City’s contractor shifts all traffic beginning on February 4.
Construction should be completed by January 2009. C-P Integrated Services, Inc. was awarded the $1,629,566 project on January 8, 2008.
