Animal Welfare offering half price dog adoptions
to celebrate National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month

(October 1, 2007) - To celebrate National Adopt A Shelter Dog Month, Oklahoma City Animal Welfare is offering half-priced pet adoptions throughout October.

All the shelter’s dogs will be up for adoption for $25 each.

Adoption fees normally range up to $50 depending on the pet’s age and how long it’s been at the shelter.  All adopted dogs are vaccinated, heartworm tested, dewormed, deflea’d and spayed or neutered.

The Oklahoma City Animal Shelter is open for adopting or reclaiming pets from noon to 5:45 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday at SE 29 & Bryant, 1.5 miles east of I-35.

For more information on the half-priced pet adoptions or National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, contact Tracy Arvidson at 405-316-6018 or tracy.arvidson@okc.gov.

The National Adopt A Shelter Dog event was started by the American Humane Association to remind the public to do their part against pet overpopulation by adopting their next pet from an animal shelter or breed rescue group.
