Council Elections Set in Ward 7

(September 26, 2007) - Oklahoma City residents living in Ward 7 interested in running for a seat on the Oklahoma City Council can file from October 15-17.

The qualifications for City Council are as follows:

The filing fee is $200.  In lieu of the fee, candidates may present a petition signed by 500 registered, eligible voters. 

The primary is December 11 and the general election, if needed, will be February 5, 2008.

Current ward representatives are Gary Marrs, Ward 1; Sam Bowman, Ward 2; Larry McAtee, Ward 3; Pete White, Ward 4; Brian Walters, Ward 5; Ann Simank, Ward 6 and Patrick Ryan, Ward 8.

The Ward 7 seat was vacated on September 17 when Willa Johnson was sworn in as County Commissioner.  Johnson represented Ward 7 for 14 years.

Candidacy filing forms can be picked up from 8 a.m.– 5 p.m. at the Oklahoma County Election Board, 4201 North Lincoln Boulevard.
