City Animal Shelter to hold Howl-O-Ween adoption

(October 9, 2006) – Costumed dogs and cats in every color, size and age will be available for adoption during the Oklahoma City Animal Shelter’s Howl-O-Ween adoptathon.  The event will be held October 21-22 at PetsMart in Quail Springs Marketplace, 2140 West Memorial Road.  Adoptathon hours are from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Oklahoma City Shelter Animals will be specially priced at just $25 during the adoptathon.  Most of the dogs and cats will be in a tent in front of PetsMart.  All of the adoptable animals have been both immunized and spayed or neutered.  Adopters will also receive a free goody “pumpkin” filled with toys and treats for their new companion.

Animal Shelter volunteers will be available to help people select the pet best suited for their interests, environment and lifestyle.

“Our goal is to adopt 200 animals in just two days.  We think people will take one look at our dogs and cats in Halloween costumes and fall in love,” said event organizer Christy Counts.

PetsMart contributed a $3,400 grant to help sponsor the event.

The Oklahoma City Animal Shelter is located at SE 29 and Bryant.  Adoption hours are noon to 4:45 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday.  For shelter information, call 297-3100.
