Kristy Yager named Public Information and Marketing Director

(July 11, 2006) – City Manager Jim Couch announced today that Kristy Yager has been named Public Information and Marketing Director for The City of Oklahoma City.  Yager spent the last 10 years serving as the marketing coordinator for the Oklahoma City Parks and Recreation Department.

Yager succeeds Karen Farney, who led the City’s Public Information office for more than two decades before retiring in April.

In her role as director, Yager will oversee media relations; the City’s web site, www.okc.gov; City Channel 20; the Action Center; print shop and a host of other informational services.

“Kristy brings extensive public relations, marketing and municipal experience to the director’s position.  She’s got a proven track record in Oklahoma City, promoting everything from the Myriad Botanical Gardens and the Civic Center Music Hall to City swimming pools and lakes.  She will be a valuable addition to City Hall,” said City Manager Jim Couch.

“I’m proud to take the helm as the City’s new public information director,” said Yager.  “City government is an exciting, fast-paced place to work.  I inherited a talented team of professionals when I accepted the position and look forward to communicating the City’s successes and services with citizens,” she added.

Yager is a member of the Public Relations Society of America and recently passed her accreditation in public relations (APR).  She also serves on the board of directors for both Frontier Country Marketing Association and the East Central University Alumni Association.
