(July 24, 2006) – The 72-inch water main which ruptured last Tuesday is back in service, City officials announced. “The line was open at 1:30 this morning,” said Marsha Slaughter, P.E., Water & Wastewater Utilities Director. “Customers participating in the voluntary ban on outdoor watering may resume watering as normal.”
The cost to repair the broken pipe was $189,300.
According to Slaughter, the pipe is the most critical in the system, distributing up to 45 million gallons of drinking water a day to residents and businesses across Oklahoma City.
