(May 4, 2005) – Swimmers eager to get an early start on pool season can dive into one of the City’s two Aquatic Centers, Earlywine and Will Rogers, on Memorial Weekend. Both pools are slated to open from noon – 6 p.m. on May 27.
Pool hours at the Aquatic Centers are noon – 6 p.m. May 27 – June 4. The pools will be open extended hours, from noon – 9 p.m., June 5 – August 13. Hours roll back to noon – 6 p.m. from August 14 – 20 and weekends through Labor Day.
Admission is $5. Pool passes can be purchased for $50 per person or $150 for a family of four. Swim lessons, which are offered in the morning, begin June 5, June 19, July 10, July 24 and August 7.
The City’s specialty pools, Northeast and Woodson Pools, open 1 – 6 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday, June 3 – August 6 and August 12 – 13. Admission is $2. Passes can be purchased for $30. Both specialty pools offer half-price admission on Sundays, and groups of 10 or more pay $1 per person throughout the swim season. Morning and evening swim lesson sessions begin June 6, June 20 and July 25.
E.B. Jeffrey Shallow-Depth Pool opens on Monday, June 5 – July 28. Hours are 1 – 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Admission is free.
Schilling, Minnis Lakeview and Macklanburg Pools open on Tuesday, June 6 – July 28. Hours are 12:30 – 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. Admission is free. Swim lessons, which are offered in the evenings, begin June 6, June 20, July 11 and July 25.
Douglass and Carson Pools open June 13 – August 4. Hours are 12:30 – 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. Admission is free. Evening swim lessons begin June 20, July 11 and July 25.
Foster Indoor Pool hours are 2 – 5:30 p.m., Monday, Wednesday and Friday beginning June 12. The pool is open year round. Admission is free.
Swim lessons will be offered at all pools for $20 per student per session. Patrons can sign up and pay fees at the pool.
Also kicking off Memorial Weekend is Lippert Park sprayground. The sprayground, which opened in 2004, is an unsupervised, unfenced water activity area designed for kids 12 and under.
Groups of 20 or more wishing to swim at any of the public pools are required to make reservations at least 24 hours in advance.
Children under four must wear plastic pants or swim diapers. Children under six must be accompanied by an adult.
Swim team, junior lifeguarding, lifeguarding and scuba classes will be offered at select locations.
Pool rentals start at $50 per hour, plus lifeguard. Party areas at Earlywine and Will Rogers can be rented for $15 per hour.
