(May 15, 2006) – Kids age 5 to 15 wanting to reel in some fun this summer can register for one of nine free fishing clinics offered through the Oklahoma City Parks and Recreation Department.
Students will learn everything from the basics of knot tying and casting to fish identification and equipment from seasoned, aquatic education instructors. Classes run from 8 to 10 a.m. and are by reservation only. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
Classes will be held at Metro Tech Springlake Campus, 1900 Springlake Drive, on June 10, July 8 and August 5; Dolese Youth Park Pond, NW 50 and Meridian, on June 17, July 15 and August 12 and Crystal Lake, SW 15 and MacArthur, on June 24, July 22 and August 19.

The clinics are a partnership between the Oklahoma City Parks and Recreation Department, the Oklahoma City Police Department and the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation.
The Parks Department has been offering free fishing classes for over 20 years. More than 600 children and 400 adults attend classes annually.
