(March 14, 2006) – Adults, age 50 and older, can register now through April 6 to compete in the 11th annual Oklahoma City Metro Area Senior Games. The competition runs April 20-25 and takes place at venues throughout the metro area.
The event offers men and women of all skill levels an opportunity to compete for gold, silver and bronze medals in basketball, billiards, bowling, bridge, cycling, golf, horseshoes, racquetball, softball, swimming, table tennis, tennis, track and field, volleyball, weightlifting and a two-mile walk and run. More than 400 people competed in 2005.
Registration is $12, which includes participation in one or all sports. Participants competing in golf and bowling will be required to pay a modest facility fee. Pre-registration is required.
Age divisions for competition are as follows: 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84 and 85+.
The Senior Games are organized by the Oklahoma City Parks and Recreation Department and other community contributors.
