(January 24, 2005) - The Crystal Bridge Tropical Conservatory is looking for friendly volunteers to train to become tour guides. Guides work as nature’s storytellers to introduce guests to the many botanical wonders of the Crystal Bridge.
“They are the face of the Gardens,” says Volunteer Coordinator, Jana Lucht. “We have all ages, races, both sexes…anyone!” says Lucht of her volunteer staff.
Although this is an unpaid, volunteer position, it is a rich experience for people to witness their work making a difference and, according to Lucht, to “gain a greater knowledge of the plants and the workings of the Gardens.”
Passionate people interested in enhancing the experience of one of Oklahoma City’s most prized possessions are encouraged to apply. Training will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on February 11 and 18. The program fee is $20 and includes course materials and lunch. Call (405) 297-3996 by Feb. 3 to register.
The Myriad Botanical Gardens is located at Reno and Robinson in downtown Oklahoma City. Crystal Bridge hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors and students and $3 for children 4 to 12. Admission to the outdoor grounds is free. Call 297-3995 for information or visit www.myriadgardens.com.
