City changes rules on rabies vaccinations

(January 23, 2004)– Oklahoma City pet owners are no longer required to take pets in for a rabies shot every year if they prefer to use one of the newer two- or three-year vaccines instead. The newer vaccines are recommended by most veterinarians.

Regardless of the type of vaccine chosen, all dogs and cats in Oklahoma City must have current rabies vaccinations, and owners are required to keep rabies tags on pets at all times.
