The City of Oklahoma City’s Hazard Mitigation goal is to enable citizens and government personnel to work together to create an educated and prepared community that is disaster-prepared, disaster-resistant, and able to respond efficiently and effectively to disasters that do occur. The City of Oklahoma City is committed to reducing the loss of life and property damage from natural hazards by following a comprehensive and inclusive planning process that advances community goals and development, quality of life, follows sustainable development practices, and is in the public bests interest.
Citizen participation is vital to a successful plan. Residents have been encouraged to attend Hazard Committee meetings and Public meetings, complete the Oklahoma City Resident Hazard Questionnaire, comment on aspects of the Hazard Plan, and check-in on the progress of the Plan regularly.
Now that the initial development of the report is complete, stay tuned for updates regarding the next review.
