The Training Section is under the leadership of Chief Larry Hansen, who is responsible for the department's training needs.

This is a massive effort as it also encompasses basic training for new hires in our 16-week recruit school.

Driver training, officer development training, and various specialized training modules, such as the handling of radiological and hazardous materials emergencies, are taught.

The Oklahoma City Fire Department Training Center also has affiliations and resources with other outside agencies for training, including Oklahoma State University-Fire Service Training, the Oklahoma State Fire Marshal's Office and Oklahoma State University-Oklahoma City.

Over the last several years, federal and state level mandated training for fire departments has increased.  The Training staff will continue to research, develop and implement the courses necessary to comply with these mandates.
