Bryant joined the Fire Department in 1982 after serving in the Edmond Fire Department for one year and as a U.S. Army firefighter/crash rescue specialist for four years.
Chief Bryant moved up through the ranks, being named a District/Battalion Chief in 1997. In 2000, Bryant was named Chief Training Officer, and then served again as a Battalion Chief from 2002 to 2004. He was promoted to Battalion Chief of Operations in February 2004, and named Deputy Chief of Operations in November, 2004.
Chief Bryant has been a member of the Underwater Rescue and Recovery Team, the Critical Incident Stress Management Team, Hazmat director and Hazmat Incident Manager, a member of the evaluation team helping choose the City’s new 800 mhz trunked radio system and a member of EMSA’s Western Division Strategic Planning Committee.
Bryant was the department’s Chief Officer of the Year in 2001, and was named one of the Outstanding Young Men of America in 1992.
He is a member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs, the Oklahoma State Fire Chiefs Association and the Oklahoma City Metro Area Fire Chiefs Association. He serves on the advisory board for the Municipal Fire Protection Program at Oklahoma State University in Oklahoma City.
