The City partners with the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce in recruiting businesses in addition with helping existing businesses expand. The City’s Economic Development Trust reviews projects and enters into long term agreements with businesses wanting to take advantage of job creation incentives.
We also partner with the Chamber in developing ways to expand the City’s retail base. With 621 square miles, we have many opportunities for new to market retailers.
Another primary focus of the economic development division is to promote community development through our eight tax increment financing districts. Authorized by the Oklahoma statutes and the Oklahoma Constitution, tax increment financing districts are instrumental in the redevelopment of the downtown area.
