    X. Items from Council.

Mr. White said he was pleased there weren't any protestants to speak on the ordinance regarding off-road vehicles on the lakes, despite the number of letters he received. He said what the City is doing on the lakes is absolutely the right thing to do.

Mr. McAtee praised Nancy Galloway, Triad Organization, for the excellent presentation on personal safety for senior citizens at the Briarwood Neighborhood Association meeting last Saturday. He said it was a great program, very practical and entertaining. He encourages neighborhood leaders to contact Ms. Galloway for a presentation.

    X.

Mr. McAtee said he is a part of an organization called the West Community Partnership, which was put together by Jerry Appleby to reach the NW 10th Street Corridor from I-44 to Council Road. The organization involves the Western Heights Schools, Department of Human Services, City-County Health Department and City Action Agency. He said there are plans to revitalize NW 10th Street and encourages neighbors and apartment owners, managers, and tenants to come on board and get involved in the process to improve their quality of life.

Mr. McAtee announced the Windsor Oaks Neighborhood Association will have a strategic planning meeting tonight and the Windsor Forest Association will have a Patrol Dinner Saturday night. He said both associations have been re-energized and are producing results with outstanding leadership. He encourages the neighbors to attend these functions.

Mr. Bowman attended the Cleveland Neighborhood Association monthly meeting last week. He said this neighborhood uses, with City partnership, Venice Boulevard, a stretch of land between NW 27th and NW 30th Streets as a park and for meeting purposes. The association reported on improvements to the park median in the last three years, to include a new brick entrance marquee, irrigation system, and soon to be installed, vintage lights. He said a lot of this has been accomplished through the use of the CDBG matching grants program.

Mr. Marrs acknowledged the swearing-in ceremony of Keith Bryant, Fire Chief yesterday. He said there was a big crowd there and the comments indicate we made an excellent choice.

Mr. Dobbs said he attended a Copper Creek Homeowners Association meeting. There was a dispute with another neighborhood association on the potential closing of a roadway and he commended the Copper Creek Association on their very forthright comments.

Mr. Dobbs thanked the City Manager and Paul Brum for their patience on the John Marshall High School issue. He said the citizens' fears on the perceived traffic problems are going away.

Mr. Dobbs attended the Legislative breakfast, which was exceptional. He said he sat with two of our state legislators and it was nice to know they were on the same page as the City and that they are going to do everything they can to help.

    X.

Mr. Dobbs urged citizens to contact their insurance companies on getting a rider for sewer line backups. He said the City will not provide coverage for sewer line backups if there isn't prior notice.

Ms. Simank commented sewer line back up insurance is not available with all insurance companies. Citizens need to contact their insurance agent to see if a rider is offered, if not, they need to consider other options. She said her insurance company does not offer a rider.

Ms. Simank said she spoke with Mr. Liebmann at the Legislative breakfast last week and he doesn't think the bill is going to pass because there are so many insurance companies that do not offer a rider.

Ms. Johnson explained the comments she made earlier about the lady who attends her church. She said she has a terrible case of arthritis and can't sit for a long period of time without having to get up and move around and riding a bus is not an option for her.

Ms. Johnson thanked Sherri Coale and the Oklahoma University Women's Sports Department, for putting on an event at the Ford Center, where young women were introduced to various sports. She said Lisa Leslie was the principle speaker and that she was fortunate to sit at a table sponsored by the All Sports Association. She met a young lady who is a participant on the Golf team at OU and recruited an advisor for her "First Tee" program. She said she is excited about the opportunities that Sherri Coale is making for young women.

Ms. Johnson announced last week, the City presented Treva Bacy with the key to her new house, located on NE 28th and Prospect. Ms. Bacy won the house in a house drawing held by the City.

Ms. Simank thanked Mr. Couch for the report on alarm permits. She wanted to know how citizens were being notified each year to renew the permit. Mr. Couch said notices are mailed to citizens at renewal time.

   XI.     City Manager Reports.

          A. Alarm Permit Ordinance

Mr. Couch commented on the false alarm report. He said false alarms are down 22%, which cuts down on the time police officers respond to false alarms.

  XII.     Citizens to be Heard.

Vandoria Lake, 7200 N. Sooner Rd, spoke regarding weed taxes on property located at 1405 NE 15th Street.
