X. Items from Council.
A. Resolution supporting the National League of Cities for “The American Dream Campaign”.
Councilwoman Johnson.
Ms. Johnson: “One regret that I’ve got is having so much going on in my life that I didn’t get a chance to pay absolute attention to this resolution. It is a resolution that was sent down from the National League of Cities in order to promote the American dream. What they are trying to do all over the country on today’s date is to have a resolution from cities and towns and villages to support the American dream that promotes fairness and opportunity for her citizens. We in Oklahoma City have already begun, in my opinion, our contribution to the American dream simply by the fact that we do hold discussions about fairness, we do have an effective workforce development program, and we have a great first time home ownership program. I’m puffing us up because in Oklahoma we always do the right things but we don’t brag about it enough. I want to go online bragging about our efforts that we have already begun to include some discussions around the Human Rights Commission. With that, I would move that we approve this resolution to be a part of Oklahoma City’s agenda to help make the country a more fair and consistent way of achieving the American dream.”
