Ms. Johnson said she recently attended the National League of Cities Community Economic Development Conference in Washington, D.C. She said they had audience with several congress people while there and asked them to keep the funding for Community Development Block Grants at $5 million dollars. Ms. Johnson said they also discussed home ownership issues as well as the homeless population in Oklahoma City.
Ms. Johnson asked if the May 11th City Council Summary might be changed to reflect the fact that Vice Mayor Bowman spoke at the Douglass High School Groundbreaking Ceremony and not Mayor Cornett.
Mr. Foshee said he attended the Red Oak Ice Cream Social last night. He said the event had good attendance and was well received by all.

Mr. Foshee said a recent law was passed requiring drivers to move their vehicles off the road if involved in an accident. He said on the interstate highway system it was a safety issue due to the fast speeds. Mr. Foshee said moving vehicles involved in accidents on the City streets makes it difficult for police officers to investigate. He asked if Council might adopt an ordinance making it illegal for drivers involved in accidents on City streets to move their vehicles.
Mr. McAtee said he attended the Windsor Oaks Neighborhood meeting last week. He thanked Charles Locke, Code Enforcement Supervisor, for giving an informative presentation on neighborhood beautification. Mr. McAtee encouraged other neighborhood associations to schedule Mr. Locke to speak to their groups.
Mr. Bowman said he recently attended the Annual Cookout at Fire Station 11, located at NW 50th Street near Shartel Avenue. He said Chief Benson attended along with Mike Anderson, Local 157 President, and Channel 4 covered the event. He said all the fire stations have different ways they build relationships with the community. Mr. Bowman said the event hosted by Fire Station 11 is top notch and should be considered as a model for other fire stations.
Mr. Marrs said he is looking forward to working with the Council.

Raymond Pappe, 10120 South Shartel Avenue, submitted a petition requesting support of resurfacing streets around the Brookwood Addition area.
Judy Chancellor, 1209 Kingston Drive, requested City Council take action to save the prairie dog colony in Yukon.
Shirley Taylor, 137 West Meade Drive, submitted a petition in support of saving the prairie dog colony.
John Bates, 608 North Peniel Avenue, read a letter he wrote to local newspapers about preserving Oklahoma’s heritage.
John Wilkerson, 5020 NW 27th Street, spoke about an alternative financing method for the Skirvin Hotel project.
