Mr. Rinehart thanked Marsha Slaughter and Bret Weingart (Water and Wastewater Utilities Department), Wendel Whisenhunt (Parks and Recreation Department) along with the City Council for the great progress on the Draper Lake rezoning project.

Mr. McAtee attended the Metro Prayer Breakfast last Wednesday.  He said he was impressed with the thought provoking comments Mayor Cornett made about not letting the quality of life be destroyed in America’s cities.

Mr. McAtee thanked John Dugan, Planning Department Director, and Bob Mier, Planner, for their participation in the Town Meeting held at Windsor Hills School last night to discuss the NW 23rd Street Corridor project.  He also thanked area residents for taking time to participate in the process.

Mr. Bowman said the Asian District Steering Committee is meeting tonight to continue work on a plan for Council’s consideration.  He said they would discuss the relocating of the Moon Festival Children’s event to the Classen Boulevard corridor – possibly using Memorial Park as a staging area and working down Classen Boulevard. 

Mr. Bowman said the Asian District Steering Committee would also consider a design competition for the Old Military Park.

Mr. Bowman asked if a public education campaign might be created to remind citizens that it is unlawful to play excessively loud music in vehicles.

Mr. Liebmann said he learned today that waiting for cab service can take up to three hours.  He requested more information about the wait times for Oklahoma City cab services.

Mr. Liebmann said he had a call last night from a citizen concerned about safety at Quail Creek Road and NW 122nd Street.  He said there was a traffic fatality at that intersection recently and the citizen requested a traffic light be installed there.  Mr. Liebmann requested a traffic study be done at that intersection.

Mr. Liebmann thanked the Council for rescinding the Lowe’s decision last week in his absence.

Ms. Johnson thanked Tom Covalt and Roger Coe from the Office of Workforce Development for their cooperation and professionalism when dealing with contractors.

Ms. Johnson congratulated the new police recruits and said she was proud to watch them graduate recently.

Ms. Johnson congratulated Mrs. Claire Luper, Oklahoma Civil Rights Activist, for winning the first ever Respect Diversity Award last Wednesday.  The award was presented to Mrs. Luper by Governor George Nigh.

Ms. Johnson encouraged Ward 7 citizens to attend the Town Meeting scheduled for April 29th at City Hall.

Ms. Simank said she thinks sometimes The City tries to regulate industries too much.  She thinks the cab business in Oklahoma City might be one of those industries.  Ms. Simank said she researches how much or how little other cities regulate business when she travels around the country. 

   IX.

Ms. Simank said last week was the first Landlord Association Building Quality Neighborhood meeting.  She said she was pleased that 15 or 20 property owners attended the first meeting.  She thanked Neighborhood Services Director and Staff and the Oklahoma City Police Department for participating in this meeting.  The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 29th, at 9:00 a.m. at City Hall and anyone owning rental property is welcome to attend.

Ms. Simank thanked Denny and Bill McConnell for a wonderful Easter Breakfast they hosted at their home in Linnwood.  She said the Sunday School class from Northwest Baptist Church helped with the cooking.

Mr. Foshee said Wayland Bonds, Superintendent of Moore Public Schools, is retiring on June 30th.  Mr. Foshee requested a resolution be prepared to recognize the contribution Superintendent Bonds has made to the community.

Mr. Foshee thanked the neighbors near Grace Avenue and SW 89th Street for attending a zoning meeting.  He thanked Mr. Wright, the developer, for working on the issue with the concerned neighbors.

Mr. Foshee said he attended the first game of the season for the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz arena football team.  He thought the game was very entertaining and there were 9,000+ in attendance last Saturday night.  Mr. Foshee said it was unique because there was a lot of player and coach interaction with the fans.  He encouraged everyone to attend a game soon.

Mayor Cornett said he attended the Terry Nichols trial in McAlester yesterday.  Mayor Cornett said since nine years has elapsed it is easy to forget about the victims and their families.  He encouraged everyone to keep the families in our prayers over the next weeks and months as the trial progresses.
