Ordinance to be introduced and set for final hearing March 30, 2004, relating to zoning, amending Chapter 59, Article VII, Section 59-7200.2C(4) of the Oklahoma City Municipal Code, 2002, as amended, regarding initiation of zoning amendments by the City Council; limiting when such amendments may be initiated by the City Council; deleting an obsolete reference to the “Community Development Director” and substituting therefore the term “Planning Director”.

Mr. Liebmann congratulated Mr. Cornett on winning the mayoral election. He said he enjoyed his four-month term as acting Mayor. Mr. Liebmann thanked all the Council members for their help during his time as Mayor.

Ms. Johnson congratulated the new Mayor. She said she was acting Vice-Mayor while Mr. Liebmann was acting Mayor and she really appreciated the opportunity to serve in that capacity.
Ms. Johnson said Theodis Payne recently passed away. She said he was an advocate for everyday, hard-working people. Ms. Johnson said she has requested an Acknowledgement of Condolences be presented to his family.
Ms. Johnson congratulated the winners of the Lincoln Essay Contest. She said there were several children from the State who participated and the awards were presented at the Old Lincoln National Bank.
Ms. Johnson mentioned she is representing Oklahoma City at the National League of Cities Lobby Day 2004 in Washington, D.C., next week. She serves on the Board of Directors for the National League of Cities.
Ms. Simank congratulated the new Mayor.
Ms. Simank said she also is attending the National League of Cities Lobby Day next week. She has been serving on the Board of Directors for some time, but says she is being seated on the Advisory Board next week.
Ms. Simank invited everyone to attend a ribbon cutting ceremony in the Plaza District this afternoon at 3:00 p.m. The new streetscape project will be dedicated at NW 16th Street and Indiana Avenue during the ceremony.
Ms. Simank reminded everyone the Riverfront Trust meets today at 1:00 p.m.
Ms. Simank said Leadership Oklahoma City now has a fast track for professionals. She said she participated in an urban area bus tour last week where she talked to the professionals about the neighborhoods on the tour. She said they visited the Plaza District, the Midtown District, and City Hall.
Ms. Simank said on Friday, March 5, at 11:00 a.m., Capitol Hill Main Street is having a ribbon cutting ceremony for a new Post Office substation.

Mr. Foshee congratulated the new Mayor. He thanked the Cornett family for the sacrifices they will make during Mr. Cornett’s term.
Mr. Foshee said Sam Bowman and his family are in his prayers.
Mr. Foshee thanked everyone for inquiring about his wife’s condition after her recent surgery. He said she is doing much better.
Mr. Rinehart congratulated the Mayor on his victory. He thanked Mayor Cornett for taking down all his political signs in an expedient manner. He said he hoped all the other signs would come down soon.
Mr. McAtee congratulated the new Mayor as well.
Mr. McAtee attended a Blazers Hockey game Saturday night. He said at the same time, the Cox Convention Center was hosting the Home and Garden Show. He said it was gratifying to see the downtown area alive with the hustle and bustle of these two events.
He congratulated the Westbury South neighborhood for the progress being made working with the City and State on a neighborhood issue. He said Oklahoma Representative Ray Young attended the meeting and has been instrumental in resolving a situation about entering and exiting the neighborhood.
Mayor Cornett encouraged everyone to watch the Ride Along program on Channel 20. The Ride Along program features different City departments and/or services each episode. Mr. Cornett said the most recent edition featured the Animal Welfare Department and he thought it was network quality programming.
