X.Items from Council.
Mr. Cornett said he was pleased to learn the Billy Joel/Elton John concert at the Ford Center was the largest grossing concert in North America for that week. He said there are several other concerts where the Ford Center has ranked in the top ten in recent months. Mr. Cornett said it is exciting to see the Ford Center exceed expectations in this area.
Mr. Bowman thanked Mr. Foshee and Ms. Johnson for being instrumental in launching the "Play in the Parks" program several years ago. He said with all the budget cuts, this program might be the only one operating this summer. Mr. Foshee said he is going to speak with the Superintendent of Moore Schools to see if they want to be involved in the program as well.
Mr. McAtee said over the weekend he had the privilege of hosting some Kimray distributors. He took some of the distributors on the Bricktown Canal boat ride and they were enthralled by the experience. Mr. McAtee asked if there are any plans to light the horse and buggy statue on the canal. He said the distributors were excited to hear Bass Pro is coming to Oklahoma City and they are looking forward to shopping there next year.
Mr. McAtee thanked the Mayor for being instrumental in bringing the Billy Graham mission to Oklahoma City to meet the spiritual needs of our citizens.
Mr. McAtee said the Mayor declared this week as the annual food drive for the Food Bank. He thanked the United States Postal workers, the Boy and Girl Scouts, and several businesses for supporting the food drive. He encouraged all citizens to donate non-perishable items to the Food Bank this week.
Mr. Foshee congratulated the officers recognized last Saturday night at the Police Awards Banquet. He said many of the stories of heroism were very moving.
Mr. Foshee commended the Council for allowing open discussions of opinions without letting personalities interfere.
Ms. Simank extended her congratulations to the Police Officers and regretted she was not able to attend the Police Awards Banquet last weekend.

Ms. Simank announced the Rockwood Neighborhood Association meets tonight at the Weed and Seed Rominger Center on SW 29th Street. She said the Mayor is attending a meeting at Mesta Park tonight along with Wendel Whisenhunt, Parks Director. The Mayor said his good friend, Louisa McCune, "Oklahoma Today" editor, lives in Mesta Park and invited him.
Ms. Simank encouraged everyone to drive by the Miller neighborhood on the corner of NW 12th Street and May Avenue to see their new gateway entrances.
Ms. Simank said the Musgrave-Pennington neighborhood is doing a beautiful job of watering and maintaining the median on NW 19th Street.
Ms. Johnson said she attended the Police Awards Banquet last Saturday night and was honored to serve as Vice-Mayor. She said two Oklahoma City private citizens were recognized for restraining suspects until the police could arrive. She congratulated those private citizens along with the police officers recognized at the banquet.
Ms. Johnson thanked the Council and the Oklahoma City citizens for the support they've shown during the passing of her son. She said every mother should have a son like hers. Ms. Johnson said she has been pretty mad at God over his passing, but she said after much reflection she is thankful to have been chosen to be his mother.
Mr. Liebmann said the Summerfield Home Owners Association meets tonight at 7:00 p.m. and the Water Trust meets today at 2:00 p.m.
