A native of Long Island, Salyer has made her home in Oklahoma City for the last 25 years. She is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College, having also completed two years of study abroad at the University of London, the Université Libre de Bruxelles and Franklin College, in Lugano, Switzerland. She began her professional career as a corporate loan officer with the Chase Manhattan Bank in New York. Today, Salyer is president of Accel Financial Staffing, a staffing service providing contract, contract-to-hire, and direct placement of employees specializing in accounting and finance careers. She also serves as the Ward 6 Councilperson for the City of Oklahoma City.
Salyer has served the City in a number of ways before joining the Council. She served for 10 years on the Citizen’s Committee for Community Development, and has been a member of the Oklahoma City Economic Development Trust. Salyer was the first woman president of the Rotary Club of Oklahoma City, (2003/2004), the 3rd largest Rotary Club in the world. She was appointed by Governor Henry to serve a two year term on the Oklahoma Partnership for School Readiness Board (Smart Start Oklahoma). She also led the team that established the Automobile Alley Main Street Program, and recently served as Treasurer of Downtown Oklahoma City, Inc.
Salyer serves on the Board of the Oklahoma School of Science and Math Foundation, The Kirkpatrick Foundation, and the Oklahoma Heritage Association. She is a member of the Board of SSM of Oklahoma and serves on the Board of the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce. She is a graduate of Leadership Oklahoma, Leadership Oklahoma City, and is a sustaining member of the Junior League of Oklahoma City.
Meg and husband Chris are the proud parents of daughter, Margaret, a college student.
