J. Brian Walters was elected to City Council in April, 2007.
He serves on the City’s Finance Committee, Public Property Authority, Municipal Facilities Authority, and Environmental Assistance Trust. He is dedicated to serving the residents of Ward 5.
Walters plans to work closely with the Mayor and City Council in moving the City and Ward 5 forward and believes that integrity and openness are essential to service in local government.
Councilman Walters is active in his neighborhood and serves as the Vice President of the Eastlake Neighborhood Association. He and his wife are active members of the Eastlake Elementary School PTA.
He operates a family-owned business with three optical outlets in the Oklahoma City area. In addition to his optical company, Councilman Walters has used his business skills to help individuals, businesses, and churches with financial consulting. His company has also developed business turnaround plans for corporate clients.
He and his wife Rebecca have two children, age 7 and 4. They are active members of Southern Hills Baptist Church. Brian serves on the Security Committee and has assisted in the development of security protocol for all the churches property.
He is a fourth generation Oklahoman. He is a graduate of Moore High School, earned his BBA degree in Finance from the University of Oklahoma, and is currently in the OU MBA degree program.
