Pete was born in Blackwell, Oklahoma and moved to south Oklahoma City in 1941. He's lived in Ward 4 ever since.
He was graduated from Southeast High School and holds an undergraduate degree in Business Administration from the University of Central Oklahoma.
He served in the U.S. Army and the Army Reserve from 1957 to 1963, including two tours of active duty.
He graduated from Oklahoma City University law school in 1972 and has been in the private practice of law in Oklahoma City since then.
Pete has been active in a wide variety of activities over the past 3 decades. He served on the Oklahoma City Planning Commission from 1980 to 1982, the last year as its Chairman.
He was first elected to the City Council in 1982 to fill the remainder of the term vacated by the previous councilman. He was reelected in 1985 to a full four year term.
In January 2005 City Council chose him, to serve the remaining term of office of a departing councl member. He was elected to a full four year term in April 2005 and reelected in March 2009.
He is currently the Chairman of the Oklahoma City Water Utilities Trust, a post he held previously from 1984 to 1989.
He also serves on the City Council Finance Committee, Social Services Committee, and Judiciary Committee.
Pete was the first Chairman of the Oklahoma City Riverfront Redevelopment Authority, serving from the trusts creation in 1985 until 1989. He also served on and chaired the Oklahoma City Convention and Tourism Trust from 1985 to 1987.
Pete was appointed by Governor Brad Henry to the State’s Air Quality Advisory Council on January 2009, for a seven-year term.
Pete has been a member of Draper Park Christian Church for over 60 years and has served there in a variety of capacities. He served as Vice-Chariman and Chairman of the Sooner State Games from 1982 to 1997 and was a member of the Oklahoma City All Sports Association from 1985 to 1997.
In February, 2009 he was inducted into the COMMSTAR Class of 2009 at Tinker Air Force Base.
