What is the Citizen Alert Program?
|
The Citizen Alert Program is an innovative tool that will
allow the Oklahoma City Police Department to share public safety information
directly with the public via email. Our goal is to further develop a
police/community partnership that will help make Oklahoma City a safer place.
|
How will I benefit from signing-up for the Citizen Alert
Program?
|
The Citizen Alert Program will benefit those who
subscribe to the service in many different ways. Information can be sent to
subscribers relating to everything from safety tips to burglaries occuring in
their neighborhood to upcoming events. The Citizen Alert Program will be used
selectively to maximize attention to certain cases so that the police
department and the citizens of Oklahoma City can work together to solve crimes,
thereby making our community a safer place.
|
Will I be inundated with junk email?
|
No. The Citizen Alert Program will be GIS based so that
we can target individual homes, neighborhoods, or parts of the city with
alerts. Alerts can also be sent city-wide, or by subscription depending on the
situation.
