What is the Citizen Alert Program?

The Citizen Alert Program is an innovative tool that will allow the Oklahoma City Police Department to share public safety information directly with the public via email. Our goal is to further develop a police/community partnership that will help make Oklahoma City a safer place.

How will I benefit from signing-up for the Citizen Alert Program?

The Citizen Alert Program will benefit those who subscribe to the service in many different ways. Information can be sent to subscribers relating to everything from safety tips to burglaries occuring in their neighborhood to upcoming events. The Citizen Alert Program will be used selectively to maximize attention to certain cases so that the police department and the citizens of Oklahoma City can work together to solve crimes, thereby making our community a safer place.

Will I be inundated with junk email?

No. The Citizen Alert Program will be GIS based so that we can target individual homes, neighborhoods, or parts of the city with alerts. Alerts can also be sent city-wide, or by subscription depending on the situation.

How do I sign up with the Citizen Alert Program?

Simply go to the Citizen Alert home page at www.okc.gov/CitizenAlert and click the Login link in the upper left hand corner. You will be asked for some initial information so that we can better tailor the alerts to suit your needs.

How much will this cost me?

Nothing. Subscribing to the Citizen Alert Program is a free service offered by the Oklahoma City Police Department. This program is interactive. We only ask tht you provide feedback on any cases for which you have information.

How will I receive the alerts?

Alerts are sent out via email and/or text messages to pagers, cell phones. You can also view alerts on the Citizen Alert homepage at http://www.okc.gov/CitizenAlert
