Northwest Sector Plan

THIS LAND USE PLAN UPDATE COVERS THE FAR NORTHWEST PORTION OF OKLAHOMA CITY.

Click on map to see High Resolution versionThe Northwest Sector Planning area includes 100 square miles located in the far northwestern portion of Oklahoma City. This portion of the City is very active and diverse offering a variety of housing types, office space, and shopping and entertainment options. Access to this area of the City includes Broadway Extension, the Kilpatrick Turnpike, Lake Hefner Parkway, and Northwest Expressway.

The sector plan process involves collaboration and interaction among City Council, Planning Commission members, City departments, neighborhood leaders, area developers, school district representatives, leaders and planners from nearby cities and counties, and other interested persons. This effort is led by the City’s Planning Department.

A community meeting will be held in early 2009. Attendees will be encouraged to express their ideas about growth and development in this area and will be invited to participate on the Plan Team.

The Plan Team will meet at regular intervals during the first half of 2009. Members of the Plan Team will learn about the plan area and the City and have the opportunity to provide meaningful feedback and content for the Plan.

When completed, the Northwest Sector Plan will be used by City officials, citizens, and businesses to guide long-term decisions about future growth and developments.

A kick-off meeting for City departments and other agencies will be held in early December 2008 and a community meeting will be held in early January 2009. The Plan Team meetings/workshops will begin shortly after that and continue for approximately 6 months.
