Historic Preservation Districts and Historic Landmark Overlay Districts
The Historic Preservation Commission oversees the City’s Historic Preservation Districts and Historic Landmark Overlay Districts, as well as other preservation-related activities.
The Historic Preservation Districts and the Historic Landmark Overlay Districts preserve places and areas of historical, cultural, architectural, engineering or archaeological significance throughout Oklahoma City.
Historic Preservation (HP) or Historic Landmark (HL) zoning requires review and approval of proposed changes to the exterior of a property by the Historic Preservation Commission. In the review, the Historic Preservation Commission applies the Design and Sustainability Standards and Guidelines for Oklahoma City Historic Districts, adopted July 31, 2012 and revised July 11, 2014.
