GTE Foundation
$30 million in grants to non profits this year in the areas of health and human services, education and the arts. A major focus in education with emphasis on math, science and technology with particular concern for helping underrepresented groups to achieve in those fields. Kresge Foundation
Grants for major building, renovation or capital equipment projects. Real estate purchases qualify, as do computer hardware and software or an integrated system costing less than $300,000. No assistance for religious education community colleges, elementary schools or secondary schools, but K-12 programs for individuals with physical or developmental disabilities can be funded. A Science Initiative finances purchases of campus laboratory and health related equipment. Grant recipients must raise funds before applying. Grants are made on a challenge basis and limited to part of the costs remaining at the time of grant approval. Kresge stresses institutional planning and advance work. Do not apply prematurely, however, advance contact is welcomed. No deadlines. Proposals reviewed quarterly and may be submitted only once each year.
